This Sugar Cream Pie is so amazing! It has a custard filling that's to die for.
Servings: 8
Ingredients
  • 1 DEEP DISH pie crust, at room temperature (I used a frozen one, but you can use refrigerated pie crusts too)
  • 4 Tbsp cornstarch
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 & ¼ cups heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
FOR TOPPING:
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
  • ¼ - ½ cup cinnamon sugar (1/4 or ½ cup sugar with 2-3 teaspoons ground cinnamon mixed in. Start with ¼ cup, but add up to ½ cup if you prefer things spicy).
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Place the pie crust onto a baking sheet. Or, if using a refrigerated crust, lightly grease a 9" pie pan, put the crust in, and set the pan on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes or until partially baked. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and sugar until blended. In a medium saucepan, bring the cornstarch-sugar mixture, melted butter and heavy cream together over medium heat, stirring constantly. The mixture is done when it's thick and creamy. Stir in the vanilla.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust and smooth out the top. Drizzle on the melted butter and evenly sprinkle on the cinnamon sugar. Bake for approx. 25 minutes, then turn on the broiler and broil for about 1 minute, watching carefully. Remove from oven and allow to come to room temperature before refrigerating for at least one hour to set. Store in fridge.

Chocolate Turtle Apple Slices

Chocolate Turtle Apple Slices
Chocolate Turtle Apple Slices are thick slices of Fuji apples covered in melted chocolate, drizzled with caramel and topped with nuts.
Servings: 1
Ingredients
  • 2 very large Fuji apples
  • 3 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used Nestle)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 cup caramels, melted (I used Kraft caramels)
  • Chopped pecans

  1. Slice apples into 1/2" pieces. With a knife make a little slit in the bottom of each apple slice to make it easier to insert a popsicle stick
  2. Melt chips in the microwave on high for about 2 minutes.* Stir in coconut oil until smooth. Dip apple slices in chocolate and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
  3. Place caramels in microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 45-60 seconds.* Do NOT overheat. Stir until smooth. Drizzle melted caramel over chocolate and sprinkle with nuts.
  4. Refrigerate for about 1 hour. Serve and enjoy immediately. Apples are best the first day. Store in refrigerator.
  5. *For best results, follow the chocolate chip package instructions for melting chocolate and same for caramel. Follow the caramel package instructions for melting caramels.
  6. Note: If you're concerned about biting into an apple seed, just remove them before dipping the apple slice in chocolate.
